In this symposium, I will first briefly present our recent systematic review on the
cognitive effects of rTMS in depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease, which
reviewed the preceding randomized controlled trials to examine the effectiveness of
rTMS administered to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and evaluated cognitive
functions in these disorders. Second, I would like to talk about pathophysiology of
the DLPFC focused on the neuroplasticity as indexed by paired associative stimulation
(PAS) in patients with treatment-resistant depression using combined TMS-EEG technique.
